Born in 1986, Abdalla al Omari is a Syrian painter who left Damascus shortly after the outbreak of the conflict. He now lives in Belgium where he started “The Vulnerability series“. A good draftsman and painter as well as a sensitive man, he renews political imagery.
Yes, all humans are vulnerable, even those we believe are the most powerful. In fact, each one of us has his own fears but we have a trick in common: the worst in our eyes would be to be perceived as weak.
The fear paradox
Hence the fear paradox: we hide our particular fears under collective (social, national, religious, ethnic…) shows of strength which call for conflict.
Human history is plagued with avoidable evils triggered by common neuroses.
